If you’ve still got exams, have a break from revision and check this out.

Daft Punk – Random Access Memories
Following the success of the over-played hit single “Get Lucky” (listen below), released this week was the hotly anticipated album “Random Access Memories” by Daft Punk, lavishing a 13-track homage to the disco and soul of the late 70s and early 80s but infused with a boldness that the duo have gained through a long tenure as disco Gods. Track 3, “Giorgio by Moroder” is a lucid example of this description. In a spoken interview segment, the audience is educated by the Italian record producer on how he saw his progression into the disco movement of the 70s with the sound of the future – the introduction of the synthesiser. Accordingly, the music mirrors this journey and much like the rest of the album, dislocates itself from the regular 4×4 oxo pattern drumming that the era is famous for and successfully marries an eruption of synthesisers and rocking drum beats to a crescendo around the 9 minute mark. Although I could speak all day about the album, I hope to have enticed your interest and encouraged you to give it a listen. It’s not your average disco LP.
