Today we’ve got a look at the controversy over Jai Paul’s leaked album, new releases from Anushka and J-One, and Monday’s Daily Dose Mix from My Nu Leng on Radio 1Xtra.
READ. SHARE. ENJOY.
Best known for his tracks “BTSTU” and “Jasmine” Jai Paul has been one of the most speculated debut albums of the year. Accordingly, a bandcamp link to what was supposedly his debut album titled, “Jai Paul”, was illegally leaked at the end of last week before being removed just days later. Getting to listen before it was removed, I thought the “demos” had a fresh sound that you would expect following his previous tracks but as all of the were “untitled” I can’t really direct you to any of the best ones. The official word from Jai though, was a warning:
Although there has been no official statement from his label XL Recordings, the album is expected to be released later this year, but in the meantime, here’s what you’ll know him for;

The “Yours” EP from J-One was released last week, again on bandcamp. The Hear Other Sounds label posted the EP with the option to “name your price” for the download and I think you should dig deep. Seamlessly blurring the lines between garage, dubstep and RnB, the EP carries the 90s 2 step vibe into the modern day – especially the title track, “Yours”. But enough from me, check it out below and follow the link to buy it.

Anushka – Yes Guess EP
A new release from one of Throwing Snow’s close friends, Max Wheeler and his partner Victoria Port a.k.a. Anushka, is the “Yes Guess” EP on Brownswood. Released on Monday, the title track “Yes Guess” features Victoria’s soulful vocals, masterfully layered over a garage breakbeat infusion. I can definitely see quite a few edits and remixes on this track starting with the Anushka VIP version that features fourth in the track listing. Anyway, here is the official video for “Yes Guess” and you can purchase at the link below.

My Nu Leng – BBC Radio 1 Mix
Finally, My Nu Leng have provided a heavy BBC Radio 1Xtra mix with some favourites including Dusky, Wen and Tessela. Enjoy.
