Cheeky little mixture of music and art. Here are my highlights. READ. SHARE. ENJOY.

Kasra Guest Mix | Crissy Criss BBC 1xtra | 20.03.2013

Kasra’s recent mix for BBC 1xtra is tasty. He ploughs through the twenty-five minute set unapologetically, playing a number of schizophrenic and aggressive tunes from Critical Music and others. Although the set is short and leaves you wanting to hear more, it’s definitely worth listening to.

Halogenix – Raya VIP – [Dub Plate]
Emperor – Radar – [Critical]
Dub Phizix – The Clock Ticks – [Tru Thoughts]
Kasra & Enei – Breath – [Critical]
June Miller – Snapcase VIP – [Critical]
Mefjus & Kasra – Cypher – [Critical]
Enei & Emperor – Liberation – [Critical]
Detail – Exhaustion – [Commercial Suicide]
Phace & Noisia – MPD – [Neosignal]
Mefjus – Signalz – [Critical]

Hybris  | Dispatch 065 ‘The Gravitron EP’ | 01.04.2013

Hybris, the man behind ‘The Cleaner’ and it’s fantastic VIP remix, has just released ‘The Gravitron’ EP through Dispatch Records. Every song on the E.P. is strong. ‘Uproot’ is a messy, syncopated foray into drum and bass whilst ‘Head To Toe’  is subtle with its drones.

Olafur Arnalds | Live on KEXP | 01.11.2012

Olafur Arnalds is an Icelandic Neo-Classical composer, noted for his heart-tugging melodies. He’s part of the new wave of pianists and composers who are using typically classical instrument in a modern fashion to communicate sobering soundscapes. His contemporaries include Nils Frahm and Dustin O’Halloran, so if you enjoy his music check those out as well. Although not recent, this live piece is relaxing and evocative, mixing the clasicism of the piano, violin, and cello with electronic beats. Perfect for the revision period. He released his latest album, ‘For Now I Am Winter’ on 4th March.
