An Independent Review with Greg Harris of Alley-Kats Clothing

Who are you and what do you do? Tell a little about the brand and its origins.

I’m Greg and I’ve been the face behind Alley-Kats clothing since i started the endevour in January this year. I’ve always wanted to have my own clothing line but always doubted myself and assumed it would flop and just be a bit of an expensive experiment, however after New Year I decided to say fuck it and start one anyway, I already had printing equiptment and with the help of social media managed to get the ball rolling and produce my first T-Shirts.

Where are you based? Does this contribute to the kind of work that you put out?

Alley-Kats is based out of the center of kent, all the products are designed at my desk and printed in my garage so its a pretty tight knit process. I wouldnt say where i live is massively inspiring but it could be much worse, im surrounded by a good group of people and theres usually something to keep busy with.

What Inspires and Drives you as a Brand?

Theres so many things that inspire the brand its unreal but skateboarding has always been one of the main sources of inspiration within the brand. I find the whole scene so imaginative and I’ve met some of my best friends through skateboarding. Theres’ also such a sense of perfection that comes with skateboarding, I saw a video of Mark Gonzales talking about how skateboarders are never happy unless they get perfection i.e. pop catch and land clean, I think this way of thinking can easily be carried over to running a clothing line, everything has to be perfect!

Where could you see yourselves a few years down the line? What’s next for you as a brand?

Things are starting to snowball pretty fast so anything is possible really, I’d be so stoked to have Alley-Kats running with stockists all over the UK and even the World, possible future collaborations with other similar clothing lines, boards? I don’t really know if I’m honest as long as it isn’t backwards I’ll be happy! Right now I’m spending most of my time working on a full autumn range, but without giving to much away expect some new headwear tees jumpers and possibly outerwear further on into the year.
